A convenience store in the heart of Nettlestone is to close, but a new, vibrant shop is to open just across the road in the former Roadside Inn pub later this week. Vic’s Stores (Londis), of Nettlestone Green, is to close its doors for the final time this week, with the Brading/Sweet family retiring after serving the community for more than 100 years. The new store will also be known as Vic’s but under new ownership and operating as a Nisa. The doors are set to open up for the first time on 26th January at 10:00 in what used to be The Roadside Inn. The site has had many purposes since the closure of the public house including a discount store at one point. Plans have also been lodged in the past to create up to 4 residential dwellings, however, these plans were refused back in October 2018. Those now at the helm have said that those who use the delivery service offered by the store will see their deliveries continue under the new management. It is also said that all the current staff will make the journey over to the new store. A statement from Vic’s Stores (Londis) has said:
“We thank you for your support over the years and wish you all the best for 2024 and beyond.”
