UPDATED: A power cut has hit Shanklin tonight (Tuesday), causing lights to dim across the East Wight.
The initial outage hit around 90 postcode areas in the PO37 6 and PO37 7 areas at 21:50, but power was restored to some properties fairly quickly. At just gone 22:00 the power went off again.
The currently unidentified issue has caused supply to drop slightly for thousands of properties across the East side of the Island, including as far away as Ryde.
Southern and Scottish Electricity Networks say that engineers are en-route and aim to have power restored to all homes and businesses in Shanklin and Luccombe by midnight.
Anyone wishing to obtain further information can call 105.
