A power cut is affecting properties in rural parts of Central and West Wight tonight (Saturday).
Those living in Brighstone, Shalfleet, Shorwell, Calbourne and Newbridge are without electricity as a result of the main network fault.
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) are aware of the situation and are sending engineers to investigate. It’s thought the fault resonates from the Shalfleet area.
It is hoped that power will be restored to all customers by 00:30.
UPDATE @ 21:40 – The rerouting of power on the network has put a number of properties back on the grid.
SSEN are continuing to work to restore supplies for all customers.
UPDATE @ 21:45 – It has been confirmed that power has been restored to all affected properties – almost 3 hours earlier than initially anticipated.
For further information about this power cut call the dedicated helpline by dialling 105.
Alternatively, you can send SSEN a message on Facebook or Twitter (@ssencommunity).
App: Did you know SSEN also have a mobile phone app where you can report, locate, track and subscribe to faults in your area?
