A power cut has hit just shy of 2,000 properties in the Newport area this morning (Thursday).
A total of 117 postcodes in the PO30 2– region have lost electricity as a result of a network fault that occurred at just before 09:30. A total of 1,957 homes and businesses are currently without power.
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks have confirmed to Island Echo that the fault developed during planned work on the network in the Newport area.
Engineers are working on resolving the situation by re-routing customers and it is hoped that supplies will be restored to all those affected by 11:30.
SSEN would like to apologise to everyone affected by the power cut. The company says they are doing all they can to get the power on as safely and as quickly as possible.
UPDATE @ 10:56 – A new estimated completion time for repairs is now 15:00.
