UPDATED: Police responded to Brownlow Road in Lake earlier this evening (Sunday) where they conducted a search of the local area.
Officers descended on the quiet residential street off Lake Hill at around 16:45 following an emergency call shortly after 16:30.
Local residents have reported seeing at least 8 Police vehicles in the vicinity as gardens were searched.
Hampshire Constabulary are yet to comment on what prompted the large response.
UPDATE MONDAY – Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that they were called to an address at Talbot Road, in the vicinity of Brownlow Road, at around 16:30.
They were responded to an allegation of assault and criminal damage.
24-year-old Benjamin Buckingham, of Sunnyside Gardens in Lake, was arrested last night on suspicion of obstructing or resisting an officer int he execution of their duty. He has since been charged with the offence and will appear before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on 5th February.
