Police are maintaining a scene guard in Northwood following an overnight break in at a garage convenience store.
Officers were alerted to the incident at Northwood Garage at around 02:00 this morning (Saturday) and arrived on scene to find a smashed window.
An intruder alarm was activated, notifying the authorities.
It’s unclear at this stage what, if anything, was taken.
Blood left at the scene has prompted Police to maintain a presence overnight and throughout this morning ahead of the arrival of forensic investigators.
Hampshire Constabulary has been approached for a statement.
UPDATE @ 17:10 – 23-year-old Damon Wilkins, of Old Road in East Cowes, has been charged with burglary other than dwelling with intent to steal.
He will now appear before Magistrates on 14th June. He has been bailed until that date.
It has been confirmed that a small quantity of items were stolen.
