Police are investigating a fight that broke out between 2 schoolchildren in Newport yesterday (Wednesday), which was watched by a group of around 40 others.
The incident took place on Victoria Rec near to Christ the King College and Carisbrooke College at around 14:24.
It’s said around 40 children were present at the time, filming the fight on their mobile phones and egging on the 2 students – thought to be around 13-years-old – involved.
It’s claimed 1 of the young people was stamped on.
Staff from nearby Christ the King College rushed over to break up the situation and Police were alerted.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary say that enquiries are ongoing and officers will be speaking to the parties involved.
Anyone with information – including camera footage – is asked to contact Police on 101 quoting 44230073865, or submit information online via the website portal.
and how is this news – fighting between kids at school is part of growing up- everyone got involved in something at some point… unless children have an exposure to this side of life when growing up, they will be totally unprepared for the potential horrors of adult life that can await them.

Those days are long gone, today a 14 year old, from Bournemouth, is in hospital in a critical condition after being stabbed by a 13 year old.

Violence is much worse now than it was during my school days, and our school wasn’t full of drugs….Even our parents didn’t greet us from school drugged up, and they new how to cook the kids a good meal after school….Much better and healthier day’s…

In todays era, weapons are used to show superiority, quite often people are ‘jumped’ by multiple people on one person – where they do not stand a chance. Many are threatened with knives and other weapons. A lot has changed from when you and others were at school. A playground fight is no more – it’s called ‘beef’ and this is taken out of school, often involving older children or young adults. It’s not settled in the playground like it once was – it goes on and on until someone gets seriously hurt.

Public floggings used to be a daily occurrence also, don’t mean it was right, these days what with mobiles and SM kids push the envelope when it comes to settling disagreements.

During the 60s it was a daily event, even school teachers would regularly give you a kicking for any reason…..And if you told your parents, you would get even more thumping, so we just got on with it….
Same in the 00’s.
Over a 100 of us would gather on the map Park in Huthwaite from all neighbouring schools. Get drunk scrap out any differences then be good friends by the following weekend.

But we’re not in the 60s anymore, are we? That is now called abuse. I know I would not be happy if my child received such treatment from staff who are meant to be educating them and helping them grow.
Violence is never the way forward, especially for those at such an impressionable age. They need to be taught how to deal with their emotions in a much better way, rather than knocking seven shades of shit out of one another. And when you have people encouraging or condoning it, those youngsters are less likely to learn.

Sadly these days, so many of these incidents end up with one or more participants pulling out a knife or other weapon. The days of good old fashioned fisticuffs are long gone. Physical and mental and online bullying is not to be taken lightly.
Stamping is not acceptable if it is directed at the head. Even in the cage.
I was always the smallest kid bullied by bigger kids, however, even if I thought I was on a looser, I always had a go. And you would be surprised, by having a go, how much the bullying was reduced…..It was just the way it was back in the 60s…
Stamping on someone’s head is so dangerous, they could do serious damage. They see it on films and games and think it’s ok. It’s so not.

Fighting is one thing knives and guns etc are another. Filming it all well that’s a story by itself!! Just as guilty in my book. We all had fights at school yes, but the rules have changed and social media bully’s are worse sadly
I believe it’s becoming a new social trend to record fights and post online. Instead of stopping it people gesture it so they can film more. They should ALL be accounted for. Disgraceful.

Feeling angry, frustrated and other emotions alike are all normal and it’s okay to feel those emotions, but youngsters need to be taught how to handle those emotions in the right way…

Yes! Absolutely! If it was a post about one of these children being stabbed, everyone would be condemning that child who pulled the knife and those stood watching.
Youngsters need to be taught how to handle their emotions in the right way…not being encouraged to fight when they have a disagreement or see a red mist.
We need to validate youngsters feelings, not dismissing them. But, we need to ensure that we’re teaching them how to deal with them sensibly.

Yes, if it was more serious than has been reported here then I can understand police involvement but, based on what’s written here and what I know of kids, I would sincerely hope that the police have better things to do than break up school playground fights (ok, it was in a field, but same difference).
Your comment is valid, but, perhaps there was underpinning issues for the fight? This would have been arranged at lunch, or via a group chat, for that many people to be an audience. How do you know this isn’t just the beginning of something that may escalate further to something more violent?
Wow. Stunned by the comments. A 13yr old got stamped on ?! This could potentially kill someone. Part of life ?! No wonder it’s all gone to s***. Happened in Ryde couple weeks back. Young boy had to go A&E to get his head glued up in two places. Either the schools or police absolutely need to address assault. Kids should be entitled to an education, without the fear of being attacked.
There is enough violence going on in this world at present, children do fight but to move from school premises and meet up in another location is a bit iffy and dangerous. The stamping on the person and mobile phone videoing is a great concern. If they are like this now what will they be like as adults. They are acting like a pack of hounds – no wonder there are so many complaints of bullying etc in our public services. Your birth is your first step on life’s ladder, the idea is to go up it not down.

Welcome to your world you mean. Not mine or most. The world has moved on for the better in most places in UK. The stabbing scumbags are rare and not a new norm. Education is helping but some human detritus will always remain because of what they see at home. These tough lads will be knocking women around in a few years and imagining they are tough for doing so. Violence begets violence. The meek shall inherit the earth.
How can you say the world is a better place today? Today there are no standards, no discipline and certainly no punishment.
Perhaps people ought to realise that, whilst fights may have been a daily occurance when they were once at school; it is no longer the same in this day and age.
No body fights with their fists anymore, nowadays people carry weapons – which is unecessary.
But, regardless of what happened 40 years ago, why were at least 40 children stood watching this? Did no body think to stop it or to move along? Violence is not cool and I wouldnt want my child thinking it’s okay to stand and watch something like that. Teenagers will do silly things and yes, sadly fights will always happen in a secondary school, but if they didn’t have multiple people stood watching – I doubt fights would go ahead.

It’s actually quite sickening to see so many comments condoning such an incident. What if these were your kids? Would you be happy? Would you be proud? Yes, many years ago fights happened all the time at school, but as stated by others, many fought with their fists. In todays world, weapons are used. So, hardly a fair fight? But, more so, one of these kids supposedly had their heads stamped on, what on earth? Yes, its normal for kids to fight, but perhaps they should be taught how to handle their emotions and not act out. Stamping on someone’s head could cause awful injuries and I doubt the kid that did it, would know the implications. Violence should not be tolerated, especially at such a young age.
Absolutely right far too often fights like these end in tragedy especially these days. If these kids really have to fight then do it in a controlled environment in a ring or a dojo.
