Police have released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to in connection to an armed robbery in Sandown on Monday night, as first reported by Island Echo.
Officers descended on Sandown shortly after 22:20 when a man threatened staff at Avenue Road’s ‘Welcome’ store with a metal bar, before making off with cash from the store’s till.
It is the second armed robbery in Sandown this year.
Now, detectives from Newport CID are hoping to identify the man pictured in the CCTV image after he fled the scene on foot towards the High Street. He was wearing a top with the words ‘Cocaine and Caviar’ written upon it and blue jeans.
Dog units and officers both on foot and in vehicles searched the streets of Sandown, including Sandham Gardens, however the suspect escaped capture and remains at large.
Thankfully, the staff on duty at the time were uninjured in the robbery.
