A road traffic collision is causing delays on a main road between Havenstreet and Binstead this morning (Monday).
The incident occurred on Stroud Wood Road near the junction with Newnham Lane and Main Road with emergency service personnel called to the scene just after 09:20.
A Ford Focus and a Vauxhall Zafira have crashed head-on with one another, the airbags on both vehicles have been deployed.
As a result of the smash, the road is currently partially blocked, with officers from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary in attendance directing traffic to stop traffic coming to a standstill.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area for the time being.
It is unclear as to whether any serious injuries have been sustained.

Idiots will always be defended by most island drivers, it doesn’t matter what time of day it is, when you take your car out you will immediately feel uncomfortable…..Get your car tooled up with good quality cameras, they will save you a lot of grief, I have cameras that recod all round my vehicle…..

Turn it on its head. I’m actually surprised there isn’t more accidents given the amount of near misses I have to avoid every week. So that means there are a lot of good drivers on the Island too.

Do we know there are more RTA incidents on the island than elsewhere if you factor in population, driving age average and breakdown, number and type of vehicles and travel reasons and road condition and layout, David? As someone recently suggeste, this excellent organ reports in detail and with pictures road accidents which most media outlets would not bother with.
