The National Police Air Service helicopter from Bournemouth is circling the skies above Binstead and Haylands this morning (Monday) in the search for what is understood to be a missing person.
As well as the helicopter in the skies, multiple police officers are on the ground – including a dog unit.
The search, which began sometime before 10:40, appears to be centred around the Dame Anthony’s Common area – a large woodland situated between Binstead and Haylands.
UPDATE @ 11:25 – WightSAR – the Island’s volunteer search and rescue team – have now been deployed to assist Police with the urgent search. Team members are rendezvousing on Salters Road, close to The Phoenix Centre and Haylands Farm.
The NPAS helicopter remains overhead more than 45 minutes after first arriving on scene.
UPDATE @ 12:10 – It has been confirmed that the missing male – a 35-year-old man – has now been located.
Island Echo understands that the gentleman has been located at the war memorial in Havenstreet, close the junction with Firestone Copse Road.
He was found at 11:52.
