Emergency services have been called to a road traffic collision on Military Road between Brook and Brighstone this evening (Monday).
The incident has occurred near Isle of Wight Pearl on a series of fast bends, between the attraction and Ridget Lane.
Police, fire and ambulance crews are all reported to be responding to the scene but the full extent of the situation is not yet known. They were alerted at around 18:23.
It’s unclear how many vehicles have been involved.
Motorists are being turned around ahead of the anticipated road closure – which is likely to be in force between Grange Chine at Brighstone and Brook Chine.
UPDATE @ 20:10 – The incident was not as serious as first feared and the scene has now been cleared.
Military Road is open in both directions.

Poor visitors don’t know what they are in for when driving amongst Island drivers God help them….
More idiots will be along soon….
Are you still here!
You not living on the island then ? The idiots on the roads are the ones that drive like their still living on the mainland . With their massive cars . This is a an island and should be treated like one with country roads. And if mainlandrs don’t like it they can go back to the rat race. Our island doesn’t need changing .
I fail to see where it states who or what was involved whether it be islanders or mainlanders or a combination of both so why make assumptions before knowing the facts unless of course you took full details of those involved which i very much doubt.
Totally disagree… everything is changing daily… obvious you sound so stuck up you do not have a clue. ..The world is moving forward whilst you are stuck in the mud !! Island need to be improved, more business need to come over, more doctors, dentists, etc… we NEED a TUNNEL… obvious you never go anywhere.
Whats this dribble you shout about, you are obviously a bitter and twisted individual ranting on about a tunnel which has nothing to do with the headline.
I think you have your head buried deep in the sand if you think a FL will solve all your little issues in your head, its never going to happen so be quiet and stick to the issue being discussed and stop just being a keyboard warrior.
And another one that likes to make assumptions this time about myself.
You know nothing about me or my careers so don’t even try.
Try sticking to the script.
I bet your a bundle of fun to live with being so self righteous.
I truly agree Hayley with all that you have said. We must have been just ahead of the accident as one minute there was a queue behind me due to a slow van ..I managed to overtake at a convenient spot , then nothing at all followed me !!!!!!!
It’s not us islanders??
More bad driving on the IW
Unknown who puts thumbs down to this answer, it is a fact.. and there is a lot of bad drivers on this Island.. TOO many… they do not look, they do not give way, they jump traffic lights, do not indicate and rarely check to see if their lights actually work !!
Oh shut up you boring fart
People not looking where there going probably they tend to look out at sea instead where there going
I have seen drivers staring out towards the sea and doing about 35mph, not just having a glimpse but a good long look, as I have overtake them at 50 mph, they did not even know I was behind them.. too many rubber necks !! WATCH THE ROAD…. NOT the scenery.
