UPDATED: Emergency services are responding to a road traffic collision between Carisbrooke and Shorwell this evening (Wednesday).
2 fire appliances from Newport, the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and several Police units have arrived on scene at Bowcombe Road, where it is understood a car has rolled.
The alarm was raised at around 18:50.
The road is currently blocked in both directions whilst emergency crews deal with the incident. Motorists should avoid the area.
UPDATE @ 19:45 – It has been confirmed that a single vehicle has been involved in this evening’s crash, the driver of which has been able to free himself from the wreckage.
Firefighters are carrying out scene safety and have not been required to extricate any casualties.
The road is closed between Waverley Roundabout and Shorwell Church.
UPDATE @ 23:40 – Bowcombe Road has now been re-opened to traffic.
