Emergency services are attending a road traffic collision involving at least 2 vehicles – including 1 that has gone into a hedge – at Downend this evening (Wednesday).
Police, fire and ambulance crews are on scene outside the Hare and Hounds pub where a Mazda 2 and a Ford Kuga have collided.
The Kuga has left the carriageway and come to a stop in a hedge. A Smart For2 is also stopped at the scene but has not been involved.
Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are tending to 1 female – who was initially given first aid by Police – as well as an elderly couple.
2 ambulance crews and an operational commander are on scene.
Meanwhile, firefighters from Newport are carrying out scene safety due to fluids leaked onto the carriageway.
The road remains open but with delays in all directions.
UPDATE @ 19:37 – Island Echo understands the Mazda was travelling up the hill from Arreton and collided with the Ford Kuga, which was travelling from the Robin Hill roundabout towards Arreton.
Recovery of the 2 vehicles is being arranged.
UPDATE @ 21:00 – A total of 3 people – 2 females and a male – have been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital.
The scene has now been cleared.

At Robin Hill it is a roundabout as stated in the report.
No it says outside the Hare and Hounds. The vehicle was travelling from the roundabout not at the roundabout as stated in the report
