UPDATE: Police have raided a property on Mitchell’s Road in Ryde this morning (Wednesday).
Local residents have described seeing an entourage of Police vans and a dog unit arrive in the quiet, narrow street shortly before 09:30.
They have gained access to a small cottage and are conducting a search of both the property and a car parked on the driveway.
Island Echo understands the raid is a targeted operation with officers setting off from Ryde Police Station earlier this morning.
Evidence bags have been taken into the address.
UPDATE @ 11:21 – Police have confirmed that a 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis.
He has been taken to Newport Police Station for questioning.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary has said:
“We can confirm that specialist officers are assisting the neighbourhood policing team to execute a pre-planned warrant at an address on Mitchell’s Road in Ryde.
“The warrant relates to an investigation into the supply of drugs.”
