A man who was arrested at a holiday park in Shanklin over serious allegations of attempted grievous bodily harm and making threats to kill has been released without charge.
The 49-year-old was detained on Sunday 23rd March after a ‘domestic incident’ at Lower Hyde Holiday Park, as previously reported by Island Echo.
Emergency services descended on the popular caravan site at around 19:10, remaining on scene for several hours.
Initial reports suggested the incident revolved around a caravan, with a woman and children inside. It was said at the time that they had been threatened with a knife.
The man was arrested on suspicion of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, making threats to kill, and affray.
He was held at Newport Police Station and subsequently released on conditional bail while Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary carried out further enquiries.
Now, Police have confirmed the 49-year-old has been released without charge and will therefore face no legal consequence.
