POLICE CHASE THROUGH PAN MEADOWS ENDS IN CRASH

UPDATED: The pursuit of a car through a residential estate in Newport has ended in a crash this afternoon (Wednesday).

A black Mazda 3 made off from officers on Bluebell Meadows shortly before 14:40, leading an Armed Response Unit on a chase through side streets.

The pursuit came to an end when the suspect car mounted a pavement and crashed into a verge, with the driver quickly running away from the scene.

Officers have secured the vehicle and searches are ongoing for the wanted male driver.

It’s thought Police were initially responding to another incident.

UPDATE @ 15:35 – It’s understood that 2 females, thought to be aged in their 20s, narrowly avoided being hit during this afternoon’s incident.

Police are appealing for witnesses to get in touch by calling 101.

UPDATE THURSDAY – A formal appeal for information has now been issued by Hampshire Constabulary. Officers would like to speak to 2 women who were walking along Angelica Grove at around 14:30 yesterday.
