Hampshire Constabulary has confirmed that a 19-year-old man from Newport was arrested on suspicion of common assault and taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent. However, he has been released with no further action on those matters.
A postal requisition is to be issued in relation to an offence of driving without insurance.

Stolen car taken and driven without insurance, and NO arrest made for even steeling a car…..you couldn’t make it up….fantastic message to all the lowlife out there….
Try reading the report again. He was “arrested on suspicion of common assault and taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent”.
Note the word “suspicion“. If he was released with no further action then the police have determined that he did not take the vehicle without consent and did not commit common assault.
So, the owner was aiding and abetting the driver knowing he was not insured?…..they should have both be arrested and charged…
Or the guy who was arrested was the owner, was insured, and the other party had some other beef with him.
Not too hard to get your head around these things if you stop frothing at the mouth for a few minutes.

There will be more along soon.
How come no further action was taken by the Police. The numpty nineteen year old was driving a car on public roads without the owners consent. Never mind whether he had permission or not, that’s between him and the owner of the Mini (twoc) though I thought twoc, taking without consent was also a police matter? And who got assaulted? I guess the owner of the Mini dropped all charges. What a waste of time all round really.
