Officers are appealing for information after a cyclist was seriously injured in Chale yesterday (Saturday).
As first reported by Island Echo, at around 10:00, an 80-year-old man, was riding along Chale Street when he came off his bike.
Specialist doctors from the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance attended the scene alongside the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and police.
The man suffered serious injuries and was flown to Southampton Major Trauma Centre, where he remains at this time.
Sergeant Catherine Edwards, spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said:
“I am appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident to come forward and speak to us.
“I would also like to thank local residents for their patience while we carried out our enquiries at the scene and the road was closed for several hours.

For an 80-year old to have the mind set and fitness to cycle is amazing, I’m so sorry his day ended like this.
