Emergency services have been called to a 3-vehicle crash on Newport Shute off Mersley Downs this afternoon (Thursday).
Police and the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are on scene just off The Downs, near to The Garlic Farm.
The road has been closed as crews tend to those involved.
The incident occurred at 15:53.
UPDATE @ 16:35 – The scene has been cleared with the vehicles involved driven away. The road has now re-opened.

More bad driving on the IW
This bad driving is driven by an inappropriate speed added to no concept that there might be anyone coming in the other direction. Maybe we should do a survey to check where those who cause these ‘accidents’ actually come from! I for one am fed up with the above comment, our roads are not suitable for rally driving. Have you tried to access Ashey Road lately from Deacon’s Lane, maybe you’d see what I mean 40 mph speed limit – not on your Nelly!
Lime kiln shute and Newport shute need to be tuned into one way roads.
Vechiles have got so wide now that the lanes are inadequate for two way traffic.
