The driver of a Ford Focus has ended up in Police custody after being arrested at an Isle of Wight ferry port on suspicion of a number of driving offences this morning (Monday).
In one of their first ‘catches’ of the day, officers from the mainland-based Roads Police Unit stopped the vehicle at Red Funnel’s East Cowes terminal on Castle Street.
It was discovered that the driver was behind the wheel without a licence and without insurance, with a drugs wipe also testing positive for cocaine.
A search of the car also turned up a small bag of Class B drugs – cannabis.
The individual is now in custody at Newport Police Station on suspicion of drug driving, driving a motor vehicle without a licence, driving a motor vehicle without insurance and possession of a Class B drug.
Good stop RPU from the mainland. Well done
Now that’s when we need to praise our police force, well done and keep up the good work….stop the scum at the ferrys..
Excellent work by the Police again, great news, well done and thank you.
Hope they don’t get their ticket refunded!
Good! I would be happy to see that headline every day of the year.
Looks like a bag of peeler crabs! Haha
The only thing which could improve this article would be an update of the car being destroyed at cliftongrades.
Fantastic. Well done to the boys and girls in blue. Let’s hope that this is going to be a regular thing at all ferry ports. With a bit of luck once the dealers and those who travel to the mainland to get their drugs realise they stand a good chance of getting caught they might think twice. Keep it up.
Get drugs dogs on the boat, and undercover police to watch for drink drivers!!!
That badge on the back was an unwise choice.
Lol
Great stop, shame the two guys that had at least 4 beers each on the crossing I was on the other day, then both drove off didn’t get stopped. Why oh why do ferry’s serve alcohol? It’s an hour crossing, not an effing booze cruise…
Strewth the islands Pablo Escobar has been shut down, hardly enough green for one person to smoke for 2 weeks!
