A 15-year-old cat who became too frightened to go into her own garden after being bullied by a neighbouring feline is looking for a peaceful Isle of Wight home with someone able to offer love and patience.
Suki spent most of her life with a caring owner who provided her with routine, comfort and safety. However, things changed when a neighbouring cat began tormenting her, leaving her too scared to go outside.
Work commitments meant Suki’s owner was often away from home for long hours and could see that her pet was becoming increasingly stressed. In a difficult but thoughtful decision, she signed Suki over to Cats Protection Isle of Wight Cat Centre, hoping to secure a happier future for her.
Despite the charity’s best efforts, Suki has now been in care for 6 months without finding her forever home. She struggled to settle in the cattery environment but has since moved in with an experienced fosterer, where she has started to blossom.
Mel Read, Manager at Cats Protection Isle of Wight Cat Centre, has said:
“For most of Suki’s life, she had a home with an owner who loved her. She knew the comfort of routine, the safety of home, and the love of an owner who understood her ways and needs.
“But then things began to go wrong. A neighbouring cat was tormenting Suki, leaving her too frightened to go outside, and that wasn’t a situation that could go on any longer.”
Suki enjoys the company of people and will often watch you work, but she is equally content enjoying a nap on her own. She is described as inquisitive and still playful despite her senior years.
The charity is appealing for a quiet home with access to a garden, where Suki can watch butterflies and soak up the sun. Access to outdoor space is particularly important as she is not keen on using a litter tray, preferring to toilet outside. With patience and understanding, this could improve over time.
Mel added:
“Suki just wants to be loved and to feel safe again. She’s so easy to love and is constantly looking to be near you, to share your company. Surely there is someone out there with a home for a cat who’s already lost so much?”

I hope Suki finds a new home soon.
Suki sounds lovely. Perhaps it’s the neighbours cat that should have moved on..
No you louse, you dumped her because she got old, spare us the B.S
Il have her.
Poor cat, I could never give up my cat for that reason and knowing that they have been in care for 6months.
Deal with the problem, remove the asbo cat as it it will be out there terrorising other cats, animals and birds.
