The occupants of a Citroen Saxo have escaped injury after the vehicle veered off the road and up an embankment on The Downs this morning (Monday).
Emergency services have not been required to attend the incident on Mersley Downs, which has occurred between the junctions of Knighton Shute and Lime Kiln Shute.
It’s unclear what caused the hatchback to leave the road shortly after 09:00. The car, facing towards Newport, is on the wrong side of the carriageway.
The busy road remains open in both directions but motorists are advised of possible delays when the vehicle is recovered.

The car veered off the road? No driver then?
“Emergency services have not been required to attend the incident”…..so not worth checking if alcohol or drugs were an issue then ….just carry on driving until a recent ventnor or Brading incident occurs then …..
Highly likely that no one called emergency services which is why they didn’t attend.
If police were called to attend they would probably require a breath test from the driver but, unless there’s been any damage to someone else’s property or any injury there is no requirement to report it.
It would be apparent that no one had made any allegation to the cops regarding the standard of driving either, otherwise they would’ve attended..
Nice reply thanks
Probably trying to do a 3 point turn !!!!!!!
