It’s bad news for customers of O2, GiffGaff, Tesco Mobile and Vodafone as the popular networks are experiencing signal issues on the Isle of Wight today (Wednesday).
Essential maintenance has resulted in a loss of signal for those using mobile devices on the O2 and Vodafone networks, especially in the Newport area.
A statement issued by O2 reads:
“We’re carrying out some upgrade work to help improve our network. While we do this, you might have some trouble with your calls, texts and data.
“We’re working as fast as we can and everything should be back to normal by 6pm on Thursday July 18.”
Vodafone similarily say that they expect the service to return to normal tomorrow.
Three, EE and BT Mobile customers are unaffected.

I live in an area where all phone signals are weak, so no change for me lol
We should all be getting our signal from satellites, not from a metal stick in the ground.
Sat Nav works ok so why not mobile phones?.

Probably because it wouldn’t work.
Satellite phones do work, what do you think the military use? And what do you think terrorist use out in Afghanistan?.
You can get yourself a sat’ phone Clare, and then all your problems would be solved about missing a few hours coverage on a mobile phone whilst improvements take place. As for Afghanistan and terrorists, great its how we get a lock on them and find their positions. Then send in a missile. I so hope you get one now. Also, I would love to see the look on your face when you get your first bill though. 🙂
My o2 reception has been next to zero from year dot . I have to stand on a stool by the front door to make a call and a txt sometimes doesn’t reach me for hours or even a day. I’m told the phone companies don’t gaf.
We in Eversley road Seabrook have had no mobile signal since Sunday not happy as my tablet is on emergency calls only to hope we get a discount
Hi Susan, we in Newport have also had very bad service from Vodafone and 02…… EE has been constantly good, maybe time to change your provider?
Cold callers can still get through to the phone funny that
