Shanklin & Sandown Golf Club hosted its hotly contested Men’s Club Championship across Friday and Saturday (19/20th July), with 94 golfers taking part in the prestigious annual competition.
The coveted Men’s Club Championship title was claimed by Nick Clemens, who finished with a gross score of 144 over 36 holes. Just one shot behind was Dan Mew, who secured the runner-up position with a gross 145.
Alongside the main championship, a number of other trophies were awarded across the 2 days of play:
Sam Cornwell took home the Peter Hammond Cup (18 holes nett on Saturday), winning on countback with a nett 68, narrowly edging out Simon Booth.
Sunday’s Melville Hall Cup (18 holes nett) was won by Thomas Clemens with an impressive nett 62. Braeden Carey followed as runner-up with a nett 68.
Thomas Clemens also secured the Roger Matthews Salver, awarded for 36 holes nett, finishing with a total nett score of 132. James Burke was runner-up on 139.
In the Hill Quaish competition for players over 55 (36 holes gross), Ian Miller was victorious with a gross 148. Les Webb finished second with a gross 153.
