A man who threatened his cousin with a hammer as she tried to visit her uncle’s house has been handed a 4-week concurrent prison sentence.
Harrison Blake, 24, of HMP Winchester, pleaded guilty to 1 count of threat to damage/destroy, 1 count of possession of an offensive weapon and 1 count of failing to surrender to court on Tuesday.
Currently serving a prison sentence for a GBH offence, Blake appeared in court via video link and stood before the Magistrates in a grey tracksuit.
Ann Smout, prosecuting, told the court that on 16th April this year, Blake was outside of his father’s house in Newport when his cousin turned up wishing to see her uncle.
As she got out of the car, Blake asked her what she was doing there before the 24-year-old became agitated. Blake then headed towards his cousin’s car wielding a hammer.
Blake threatened to damage the vehicle and injure his cousin but nothing came of this.
Defending Blake, Amy Hosell said that her client accepted he committed the offences at the first opportunity and that he was fixing his moped at the time, hence the fact the hammer was on his person. She also added that the 24-year-old wasn’t taking his medication at the time of the incident.
Magistrates sentenced Blake to serve 4-weeks in custody concurrent with his current sentence, which is due to expire on 14th November. He was also ordered to pay a £128 victim surcharge fee.

It is a wonder that the court never gave a box of nails to the felon in the naive, gullible mindset that they then may find worthwhile employment as a carpenter
Can anyone explain the point of serving an additional sentence concurrent with your existing sentence ?
Means no punishment at all. The criminals must be laughing.
Let’s hope the thst scum crawls under a stone.
Wearing a grey trackie, says it all really.
Mending a moped with a hammer ???!!!
