A new service, EnergyWise, has launched on the Isle of Wight offering local homeowners bespoke advice tailored to their needs, helping them make their homes warmer and cheaper to run. This service includes an in-depth assessment of each property using thermal imaging cameras to evaluate the efficiency of heating systems. Following the assessment, homeowners receive a comprehensive energy performance report and retrofit plan. The advice provided will include recommendations that can be implemented at little or no cost, along with a medium-term plan for further home improvements. Additionally, the service offers assistance with applying for government grants to support these upgrades. This initiative is unique to the Isle of Wight in its scale, and local residents are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity before the scheme concludes in early 2025. The project, funded by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, is delivered by Green Isle of Wight CIC as an expansion of a programme currently being run by Testlands in Southampton. Lisa Beaney, Managing Director of Green Isle of Wight CIC, says:
“I’m thrilled we can offer this service on the Island. It is the missing link that will enable people to make a material difference to their lives.”
Luke Newman, Trustee of Testlands, adds:
“I am so pleased we are now able to extend this project to the Isle of Wight. Working with local organisations means we can deliver this innovative program to people that will really benefit.”

Just get smart meters, solar and batteries. Sorted. With smart meters and the right company/tariff, you can save plenty over SVT tariffs.
As with many costs and lowering of our standards of living, much can be attributed to the recent increase in our population.
For more people clearly consume more energy, which forces us all to have to pay more for a finite resource.
As the rules of. ‘ supply and demand’ dictates prices for most everything from energy, water, food, fuel, rent and house prices, then it is clear, if blinkers are removed, that Reform were the only party who would have slowed our increasing consumption and rising costs, as the British population was stable.
Think next time of just what naive voting will do for you and your family. Too late this time, but think and perhaps learn.
Blah, blah Deform should have won. Blah, blah immigrants are bad. Blah, blah I’m right and you’re wrong. Blah, blah you’ll regret it. Zzzzzzz
Blimey. Talk about a stuck record. You’re worse than the established ‘ evangelicals”. The ails of this world in general and island in particular are not the fault of the ‘others’.
Net zero is a joke on the Island
The majority of vehicles on the island are Petrol and Diesel
The Council are doing “”nothing”” to get these vehicles off our roads.
In London when I am doing a job. I have to pay extra if parking a
Diesel, so I use my EV Van.
The only thing green on the Island is the grass in the park
Another one of these Community Interest Companies set up with tax payers money and purportedly to “help” tax payers. Would you let two strangers with no track record into your home with thermal imaging cameras? Reminds me of that other CIC from Woodvale Road in Gurnard. Isn’t there another shop in Newport called Utilita flogging light bulbs etc, who are also (allegedly) energy experts?
We have a paid side to what we do that funds quite a bit of our work and the staff that carry out the surveys are fully trained, DBS checked and Trustmark approved. They also hold multiple qualifications and to date have carried out many home surveys both on the Isle of Wight and in Southampton.
So can you explain why despite qualifying for government grants no Boiler company will come to Island to exchange refit /no Island company wants to know and forget about qualifying for Windows as soon as you say Isle of Wight “don’t cover that area!!.
Because that is all they are interested in – government grants – which in real terms is our tax money being given to these leeches to start an “Eco” business. Once they have grant “funding” they are laughing at the mugs who pay for it. Eco Island was the start of it. Absolute nonsense.
Total rubbish.. I’ve just had mine done..thanks..
Ah, yes… Utilita… the company that con you by saying they don’t have standing charges… What they do is load the first two kilowatts of energy used which covers the standing charge. And they spend their massive profits sponsering football clubs so thier directors can get free seats to watch the games… If you want cheap energy, switch to Octopus Energy – but you must have smart meters.
Martin, I was not recommending Utilita, just pointing out that there are dozens of these “Eco” tagged outfits who are just in it to get tax payers money through Government “grants” – Contracts for Difference etc. Same with “Smart” meters. Nothing “smart” about them. In fact they are an intrusive danger. The homeowner can do the same job just by keeping a record of his/her meter readings. Talking of football clubs, wasn’t it great to see Forest Green Rovers relegated. Eat that Dale Vince!
Just had a survey done and one thing it’s done is shown that my EPC is completely wrong.
We now have a mapped out property with the correct floor space figures and know exactly what needs doing and the survey is free with a full report so you can choose what you want to do next.
Also my radiators are spot on with no sludge and working very efficiently even with a 16 year old boiler.
Would highly recommend checking them out.
