Maritime Solent is inviting maritime-focused charities from across the Solent region to apply to become its official charity partner for 2026/27, offering the successful organisation access to a network of more than 1,200 industry professionals and businesses.
Applications are now open to charities operating within the maritime or marine sector, with the partnership running until October 2027.
Maritime Solent, a not-for-profit organisation which champions and supports the region’s maritime industry, says the initiative is designed to connect charities with its extensive network while raising awareness of the work being carried out to support local communities.
The Cowes-based UK Sailing Academy (UKSA) has held the role over the past year after being selected through a competitive process.
During 2024/25, the charity worked with more than 10,000 students, helping to widen access to maritime training while developing life skills and improving employment opportunities within the sector.
Amy Sweeting, Director of Development and Impact at UKSA, has said:
“From UKSA’s perspective, being Maritime Solent’s Charity of the Year has been hugely valuable. It’s given us access to a well-connected, influential network across the industry and a platform to showcase our work to organisations shaping the future of maritime.
“Just as important has been the opportunity to attend and be part of key events, which has helped us build meaningful relationships and open up opportunities for the young people we support. For a charity like ours, that visibility and connectivity really matter.”
Keith Greenfield, Chair of Maritime Solent, has said:
“The charity partnership gives us the opportunity to broaden our understanding of the fantastic work being done to support communities in the local area. Connecting our network with these charities to benefit the region and our industry is incredibly beneficial to all.
“We’d like to thank UKSA for their commitment over the last year and we’re looking forward to building on the success of this initiative and welcoming a new partner.”
The successful charity will be invited to present at the Maritime Solent Awards on 22nd October and take part in a programme of networking events throughout the year.
Applications close on 31st July, with further information available on the Maritime Solent website.
