Ryde is to receive a brand new, multi-million pound school with a capacity of some 1,500 students on the site of the existing Ryde Academy, it has been announced today (Tuesday).
As part of the first phase of the Priority School Building Programme (PSBP), Ryde Academy has been selected to benefit from a new school building on the existing site at Pell Lane.
The new school will be constructed whilst the Academy remains open, with minimal disruption expected.
Deciding the exact location of the new building is underway with designs being drawn up. It is expected that a planning application will be submitted at some point next year with public consultations to be held within the next few months.
Headteacher Joy Ballard has today said:
“We are so excited to have been chosen for this project.
“The new building will help us to provide our students with an outstanding curriculum fit for the 21st century and enable us to take ambitious steps into the future.”
