A defibrillator has been installed at the High Park Tavern in Ryde thanks to the fundraising efforts of a local burlesque cabaret group.
The event – which was held on 11th February- was organised by local burlesque dance business La Tease, and was a resounding success, raising enough funds to purchase a defibrillator.
Throughout the evening, the amazing burlesque performers took to the stage, showcasing their skills in a variety of acts and dances that were both entertaining and inspiring.
In between acts, audience members participated in fun and games, and Steve from IOW Defibrillators spoke to the crowd about the importance of having a defibrillator on hand in case of a cardiac emergency. He explained that the pub is a popular gathering place for the community, and having a defibrillator on site would save lives.
The event was attended by over 100 people from the local community, and the overwhelming support shown for the fundraiser was a testament to the power of bringing people together for a common cause.
Overall, the burlesque cabaret fundraiser was a triumph, not only in terms of raising funds for a defibrillator but also in bringing together the community.
Made possible by the La Tease instructors and girls who attend classes in Ryde, Sandown and Havenstreet, Compered by Miss Fire and lighting and sound by Danny Cartwright, all of whom donated their time and skills to the cause. It all demonstrated the importance of supporting local businesses and artists, and showcased the power of the arts to make a difference in people’s lives.

Nothing like a bunch of woman dressed inappropriately cavorting around to attract a certain type of a crowd I suppose.
I’m a Burlesque chair dancer & my classes also with fund raising events we also do shows, we don’t do anything Vegas style but wear the same costumes whilst on stage fundraising is one of our priorities & we also the meaning of my classes is having fun, making friends, gaining confidence in yourself & exercise I congratulate this group on helping to provide another defibrillator as it will defo help save someone’s life one day
