Naturezones has been awarded £9,200 from Awards for All to support their new Post Graduate Volunteer programme.
The team at Naturezones believe it is important that student’s University and College education does not go to waste at a time when young people are finding it is difficult to get paid work.
As well as conservation land management skills Naturezones encourage skills such as scientific surveys around climate change and the effects on nature and wildlife and what adaptations are required as environments change by enhancing habitats etc.
By providing an opportunity for young local people to put their qualifications into practice it also supports for the future posterity of the local communities, natural environment on the Island, as well as their own future prosperity.
Students will have mostly completed but not exclusively, degrees in Environment and Conservation studies, Zoology, Biology, World Conservation, Horticulture.
Post Graduates and college leavers can find out more about the scheme on our web site. We are also looking for the right qualified person to run the scheme.
Founder of Naturezones Angela Hewitt says:
“We have been supported by the Lottery Community Fund and the Heritage Lottery for nearly 20 years. It is thanks to them that we have created such an amazing and dynamic Wildlife Education Centre.
“The aim of this particular grant is to support local University and College leavers build their knowledge and experience in managing such a centre as ours.”
