Watchingwell Saddleback pig breeders Sharon and David Groves achieved the ultimate accolade at this year’s British Saddleback Championships.
The husband-and-wife team, from Sandford, made their way to the Malvern Autumn Show last Friday, where the British Saddleback Championships were being held for 2023.
The Groves’ Watchingwell Dominator 130, Dylan, stepped up to the mark as he competed for the prestigious trophy and sash against a very large class of pigs.
Dylan showed himself off beautifully for his handlers, Sharon Groves and Oliver Lightfoot, to be chosen as Champion of Champions by renowned Saddleback breeder Edward Bailey.
The win makes Dylan, as a senior boar, the best Saddleback in the country. This is the 2nd time Dylan has lifted this wonderful accolade, having done it as a young pig, in 2018.
So sad that “Rasher” didn’t win.
