A fire in a field isn’t that uncommon but mystery surrounds an unusually shaped blaze that was found burning in the middle of nowhere near Shorwell – in October.
The team at Cheverton Farm, which is situated to the north of the village of Shorwell, spotted the fire in one of their top fields earlier this week.
Although it has been unseasonably warm, it isn’t hot enough for a spontaneous field fire to break out – indicating it was set deliberately. What’s more, the fire was in some sort of shape, like a tally mark.
Andrew Hodgson, who owns Cheverton Farm, has said:
“The cynic in me says it’s just kids messing around, but they’d have had to seriously hike to get up there. So I really don’t know what to think.
“I’m not a believer in paranormal stuff, but this is weird”.
The fire was safely extinguished and thankfully there was no damage to the site or any livestock.

Vandals can’t afford to deliberately set fire to fuel for ‘a laugh’ since the two oil rich skirmishes going on.
That or crop marks made by UFO’s once using green energy, have also realised that their leaders have lied about the harm of fossil fuels, and now they too are burning oil based energy sources.

On a serious note, I saw a very bright shooting star heading in that direction between 8 pm and 10 pm on Sunday evening. It might be a coincidence but if there were any more sightings and this was the same time/day, you should contact the UK Meteor Network to investigate the possibility of a meteorite, which would be important.
“Isn’t hot enough for spontaneous combustion” what a nonsensical thing to say, dry grass has a combustion point of over 200 degrees C.
Size? Is that six feet long or sixty? A sense of scale would be good.

I would have thought it’s more likely to be leaked fuel or oil from a tractor perhaps.
Probably some natural cause… any discerning ‘alien tourists’ would take one look at Earth and keep going 🙂
