Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue service are in attendance at GKN Aerospace in East Cowes this afternoon (Friday), where smoke has been sighted.
3 appliances from Newport and Ryde have been mobilised to GKN Falcon Yard on Ferry Road, alongside the Incident Command Unit from Newport.
The Aerial Ladder Platform from Ryde is also en-route.
The alarm was raised shortly before 16:15.
An audible alarm can be heard nearby but there are no visible signs of smoke outside, however firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are investigating further.
UPDATE @ 16:57 – The incident is under control and the response is being scaled back.
The Aerial Ladder Platform has been stood down en-route and is on its way back to Ryde.
