Coastguards were called to Ryde this morning (Monday) following reports that a dog was caught below the town’s historic pier.
Rescue Teams from Bembridge and Ventnor were called out at around 10:00 to reports that the dog was caught underneath the pier structure on its own.
A concerned member of the public alerted HM Coastguard after a dog, without its owner, was sighted at the dry end of the pier.
However, as Coastguard Rescue Officers were arriving on the scene the animal’s owner returned and rescued the dog.
As a result, the teams stood down and returned to their respective stations.

Why would you even take your dog on Ryde beach its all polluted.
Hello Troll
If you look on the government website you’ll see, for 2021, Ryde beach bathing is rated as excellent (highest rating). One of the best in the UK.
What about 2022?
I bet its that usual idiot that is there most days, headphones on, dog running around wild, barking loudly, whilst he ignores it and is not close by
He has been spoken to by many people before about it on many occasions – ignorant clown
i guess he dosnt pick up after his mut as well.
Why would you not watch your dog and care that it was out of site or missing ..unresponsible dog ownership ,
poor dog must of been scared
It’s ok, the worlds best dog owners will be along soon saying that their dog has never done anything stupid and it’s all the owners fault.
Keep dogs on leads.
Problem solved
Tasking Ventnor coastguard for a dog under RYDE pier, stupid, what a waste of time & fuel. Can’t really believe Bembridge was necessary either
