New Mountbatten Isle of Wight CEO, Becky McGregor, will soar across the night sky on Saturday (8th November) as part of this year’s Fireworks with Mountbatten event at Robin Hill.
Becky is among dozens of brave fundraisers preparing to take on ZipFire – a 300-metre zipline starting 25 metres above the ground, with fire cannons blazing as participants fly overhead before the skies are lit up by a spectacular firework finale.
Sponsored by Reno Drain and supported by media partner Isle of Wight Radio, the event promises an evening packed with entertainment and fundraising in support of Mountbatten’s vital end-of-life care services.
For those not taking part in the challenge, there will be plenty to enjoy throughout the day. Entertainment will be provided by the New Carnival Company, Raw Samba, DJs, and the Isle of Wight Radio team, with a wide range of street food stalls also on site. Gates open at 14:30 and the fireworks display begins at 19:00.
One returning participant is Helen Hirons, who is completing ZipFire for the second year running. She said:
“I am forever grateful to Mountbatten, not only for the care its team provided my late husband but also their support for me, our son and other family members. Mountbatten’s staff and volunteers are wonderful and taking part in ZipFire is just a small action to try and help raise vital funds.”
Visitors can access Robin Hill using a £1 park and ride service from the Isle of Wight College in Newport, or a pre-booked bus from Ryde Bus Station. Tickets cost £7.50 for adults, £5 for children aged 5-16, and under-5s go free. Family tickets are also available.

“We are very proud to be sponsoring Fireworks with Mountbatten. It’s going to be an amazing evening and we’re so excited to be a part of it. I know just how important palliative care, end-of-life support and bereavement services are. The compassion and dignity provided make an incredible difference, during the hardest of times.”
Mountbatten CEO, Becky McGregor, has added:
“Fireworks with Mountbatten has become a fantastic annual Isle of Wight event – great for all the family. We can’t wait to do it all again. Join us in the amazing surroundings of Robin Hill and expect a fun-filled evening of fireworks and entertainment, while supporting the vital and expert end-of-life care delivered, 24/7, by our kind and compassionate staff and volunteers.”
