A sign warning motorists of crossing peacocks has been erected outside an Isle of Wight pub.
Hare and Hounds – located on Downend Road – took to their Facebook page over the weekend to show off the new sign which reads ‘Peacock Crossing’.
The feathered fowl are often seen at nearby Robin Hill as well within the grounds of the popular family pub.
It is hoped that the new signs will encourage people to be cautious when driving in the area.
A spokesperson for the Hare & Hounds said:
“Peacocks are a wonderful sight in the local area and they do visit the pub garden. It may be a little unexpected for some to see these birds in the vicinity and we’d like to help protect their presence so we have put up the ‘Peacock Crossing’ sign to remind people to be on the lookout as they are driving through the area.”
What do you get if you cross a peacock with an unusual sign? I’ll get my coat…
The way Numpty’s speed on the island
they won’t even notice it.
(They drive too fast to see)
I feel sorry for the peacocks
You’ll usually find them in the bus shelter!
