A motorcyclist is being treated for serious injuries sustained in a road traffic collision on Gunville Road near Carisbrooke this afternoon (Saturday).
Emergency services were called to the scene, close to the Central store, shortly before midday when the biker collided with a parked car.
Island Echo is told the motorcycle has ended up ‘upside down’.
Police are on scene and paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are now tending to the injured rider.
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are also in attendance providing scene safety due to leaking fuel.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary has said:
“We were called at 11.46am today (Aug 24) to a report of collision between a car and a motorcycle on Gunville Road, Carisbrooke.
“The rider of the motorcycle is believed to have suffered serious injuries.

UPDATE SUNDAY – The motorcyclist’s injuries are not as serious as first feared by medical teams.
The rider has since been discharged from hospital with severe bruising to his legs and back. He has escaped any broken bones.
