Emergency services are in attendance at a road traffic collision involving a motorbike and a car in Lake this afternoon (Sunday).
Several Police units and 2 ambulances paramedics from the Isle of Wight ambulance service are attending to a motorcyclist.
A paramedic officer is also in attendance.
Teams were called shortly after 13:20 for the incident, which is causing traffic delays through Lake with motorists having to turn around.
UPDATED @ 13:46 – Traffic towards the incident on Newport Road, near to the Central convenience store, is being diverted via Manor Road, Lea Road and New Road.
UPDATED @ 14:06 – Island Echo has been told that the male motorcyclist involved in the collision has not suffered any serious injuries despite the condition of the blue coloured Lexmoto motorcycle he was riding.
The man has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital for further examination and treatment if necessary.
Emergency services remain on scene at present with motorists approaching Lake still being diverted – with officers directing traffic to ensure a smooth flow.
Southern Vectis has announced that its route 8 services will divert from Morrison’s via Whitecross Lane to Princes Way, Green Lane, Cemetery Road, Sandown Road to Lake Shops.
UPDATED @ 14:18 – The road has now reopened in both directions following the conclusion of the incident and clearing of debris from the road.
It’s expected that buses will return to their usual route within the next hour.
