UPDATED: Traffic is heavy heading to and from Cowes this afternoon (Tuesday) as a result of a road traffic collision involving a motorcyclist at Horsebridge Hill.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are on scene and are attending to the injured rider, who is said to be laying in the road. They were called to the scene at the junction with Hogan Road shortly after 15:00.
Queues are forming in both directions backing up to St Mary’s Roundabout (northbound) and Northwood Garage (southbound).
Delays are to be expected to Southern Vectis Route 1 buses. Motorists should avoid the area for the time being.
UPDATE @ 15:40 – The collision has involved a motorcycle and a car.
No one is thought to be seriously injured at this stage.
UPDATE @ 16:35 – A male motorcyclist has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital for treatment this afternoon.
Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that the crash has involved a motorcycle and a Ford Focus.
Southern Vectis are reporting delays of 30 minutes on their Route 1 service, with some journeys not operating.
UPDATE @ 17:17 – The incident has now been cleared and traffic is starting to return to normal rush hour levels.
