More than 30,000 parking contravention notices were issued by the Isle of Wight Council in 2025, Island Echo can reveal.
The figures, recently released via a Freedom of Information (FOI) request, cover the period from 1st January to 31st December 2025.
The most common off-street contravention was for parking without making payment. The busiest month for off-street enforcement was July, with 957 notices issued.

A total of 8 off-street notices were issued throughout the year for ‘feeding the meter’.
On-street enforcement peaked in June, with 1,687 notices handed out. The most common on-street contravention was parking on a restricted street. The busiest months for this type of notice were June (483), September (426) and November (419).

All this cash they have taken and we still have thousands of potholes
Council what are you doing with all this leached money
Potholes come under local and general taxation, not parking charges. The revenue from PCNs go to …administration, transport and infrastructure.
Potholes are a different budget.
It’s about time the Coucil opened a compound
and towed vehicles away.
It’s the only way to teach lawless numpties.
The Council also needs to invest in speed cameras
all the fines will pay for the cameras.
Keeps someone in a job I guess, so that’s all good.
Only 30,000 are civil enforcement officers asleep on the
job.
Stay outside Sandown Pier, everyday when I walk the
dog vehicles are parked on Double Yellow Lines.
Everyday I see vehicles parked illegally on Double Yellow Lines
etc and FCUK all gets done about it.
At least outside Godshill school an Enforcement officer
STOPS numpties who try and park illegally
Need to employ more Enforcement Officers
too many motorists think they can park where they want.
At last we’ve found something that IOW council are vaguely efficient at.
Excellent, Delilah.
