UPDATED: Firefighters are tackling a vehicle fire of a different kind this morning (Tuesday) as a mobility scooter has gone up in flames at public toilets off Cowes High Street.
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were alerted to the fire at ‘The Cut’ at just gone 06:00 with 2 appliances from Newport mobilised to the scene.
The full circumstances of the incident are currently unclear, but it’s thought fire damage has been sustained to the public toilets. The scooter has been destroyed.
UPDATE @ 08:14 – Fire crews have now stood down from the incident.
They have used a hose reel to bring the incident under control.
It is unknown if the fire is being treated as suspicious.
