A search for a high risk missing person has been launched on St Boniface Downs this evening (Tuesday).
5 police units alongside WightSAR volunteers have been deployed to the downs in order to attempt to locate the person.
WightSAR members have setup their incident command post at the main St Boniface Down car park, with the organisations trained volunteers beginning to assemble on request of Hampshire Constabulary.
It is not yet known whom is being sought during the search.
UPDATE @ 21:54 – The casualty – thought to be a woman – has been located by search teams and passed to the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service for assessment.
A convoy of emergency services have now departed the scene, with the casualty being taken to hospital under police escort.
