Island Echo would like to wish all of our readers, advertisers and supporters a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Between now and Friday 2nd January, you will see less news from us than normal. This is to allow our team to take a much-needed break and to recuperate, ready for the year ahead.
You will still find plenty of new articles being published over the festive period, including our ever-popular heritage pieces, community news and sport. We will, of course, also bring you all the latest major breaking news as it happens, albeit perhaps slightly slower than usual.
Darren Toogood, Editor/Publisher of Island Echo, says:
“The journalism sector is ever-changing, and 2025 has certainly been a challenging year, but I’m incredibly proud to say that we have continued to produce quality, trusted news to our loyal readership. Our small but dedicated team of local journalists will have produced more than 6,200 articles by the end of the month – at no cost to you, the reader.
”I’d like to take this opportunity to thank my team; on editorial we have James and Warren, with Carl and Sophie looking after the commercial side of things. What we achieve, day in day out, really is a team effort.
“We have some big plans for next year (that are due to be signed off in the coming weeks), and I cannot wait to share the news with you.
“Thank you for your continued support in our 14th year of publishing!”
Don’t forget you can follow our Light up the Wight Christmas Lights tour map and vote for your favourite display until 31st December at www.islandecho.co.uk/xmas.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a well
deserved break.
Happy Prosperous New Year, looking forward
