2 men from Newport, who were witnessed to be involved in an altercation whilst armed with a knife and a baseball bat, have been arrested, questioned and bailed by Police.
The incident occurred at around 01:20 yesterday morning (Tuesday) outside Newport Police Station on the High Street.
Officers spotted the situation developing and stepped in, making 2 arrests.
A 25-year-old man from Newport was arrested on suspicion of possessing a knife, blade or sharp pointed article in a public place and causing actual bodily harm. He has been granted conditional bail until 14th September while officers continue their enquiries.
A 34-year-old man, also from Newport, was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place, namely a baseball bat, and was granted conditional bail until 14th September while enquiries continue.
