The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has landed in the heart of Cowes this afternoon (Thursday) in response to a medical emergency in the town.
Doctors and paramedics on board the life-saving helicopter have touched down on the edge of Northwood Park off Ward Avenue.
The HEMS team were alerted to the on-going situation shortly before 15:20.
UPDATE @ 16:50 – The air ambulance has now taken off from Cowes and is heading back to base at Andover. The patient has not been conveyed to a mainland hospital.
It is thought the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service were called to Newport Road near to Stephenson Road prior to the air ambulance landing.
UPDATE @ 18:45 – It has been confirmed that the patients’ injuries were not as serious as first feared and therefore the man was conveyed by land to St Mary’s Hospital.
