MECHANICAL ISSUE FORCES CANCELLATIONS ON WIGHTLINK’S FISHBOURNE ROUTE

Wightlink have been forced to cancel a number of sailings on their busy Fishbourne to Portsmouth route this morning (Monday).

A mechanical issue means the 12:00 and 14:00 car ferry sailings from Portsmouth have been cancelled, alongside the 13:00 and 15:00 sailings from Fishbourne.

All booked customers will travel on the next available sailing.

It’s about time ferry companies were made to compensate customers for thier failures.
If you are delayed more than half an hour you should get free travel on that leg of the journey by way of an instant refund!!!

There are statutory compensation obligations already but for obvious reasons they don’t exactly shout about them from the rooftops.

I can’t remember the details offhand but they have full details in the T&Cs on their websites.

read up on consumer rights legislation regarding ferries. If a delay is caused by weather or circumstances beyond their control, even if they had done everything possible to avoid it, they do not have to pay compensation.

there are delay compensations in the form of refunds, for over 90 minute delays etc for circumstances they do have some control over, however, most of that is open to interpretation as the fastcat doesn’t require you to book a seat.

Nothing surprises me.shitelink again. They should have a policy like L.N.E.R trains I was caught up in last Friday with the national grid so they say.Nothing to do with the trains but anymore than half hr late …refund that will buck them up
