Outdoor education company Manor Adventure has purchased the former Kingswood activity centre in Bembridge, with plans to reopen the 60-acre coastal site in 2026.
The acquisition comes just months after Kingswood’s parent company fell into administration and ceased operations on the Isle of Wight with immediate effect, as first reported by Island Echo.
The Bembridge site, which was previously used as both a private school, was listed for sale in March with an asking price understood to be around £2million.
Several parties were interested in acquiring the site, including housing developers, but it has been confirmed that Manor Adventure has completed its purchase of the East Wight site, revealing plans to transform the location into a new flagship outdoor activity centre for the south of England.
The company has said the centre will feature a wide range of water sports and land-based pursuits, with a focus on providing a more personalised, higher quality experience for visiting school groups. Among the promised improvements are fewer children per instructor, greater activity variety, and evening sessions to maximise the value of each stay.
Manor Adventure has other centres at Culmington Manor (Shropshire), Norfolk Lakes (Norwich), Willersley Castle (Derbyshire), Abernant Lake (Wales), Lockerbrie Manor (Scotland) – plus Le Château du Broutel and Le Château de Warsy in France.
Fabulous news; young people, jobs, and saving the site from dereliction.
