A 27-year-old man wanted in connection with a hit and run incident in Newport, in which 2 people were injured, was arrested in Ryde last night (Thursday).
Hampshire Constabulary issued an appeal for information earlier this week following the incident on South Street during the early hours of 20th October.
It’s alleged that shortly before 03:00 a car collided with 2 people causing them injuries to their ankles. A cordon was erected around the crime scene near TK Maxx with a damaged car wing mirror left on the floor.
Police spent the following days trying to trace their prime suspect, but with efforts proving difficult, a public appeal was launched to help identify his whereabouts.
Now, Island Echo can reveal that the wanted male was arrested in Oakvale, Oakfield shortly before 20:00 last night. It has been confirmed he was arrested on suspicion of grevious bodily harm.
He remains in custody at this time.

Needs locking up for life.
But likely at best 18m as now our prisons are filled with the worlds dross adding to our own so much so that meaningful sentences will never ever again be administered by courts, and the low life know it.
Well done to the police now we hope when the accused is before the magistrates the police hard work will not be in vain
Well done.
These terrible drivers are a danger to everyone.
