A man from Jersey who was found living and working on the Isle of Wight has been charged with a number of sexual offences and has been ‘deported’ back to the Channel Islands.
57-year-old Vincent Charles Roberts, who Island Echo understands had been working in a shop in Newport, is accused of sexual offences against 2 individuals.
It has been confirmed by the States of Jersey Police that Roberts faces a total of 8 charges of committing a prohibited act towards or in relation to any other person suffering from a mental health disorder, contrary to Article 75 (1a) of the Mental Health Jersey Law 2016.
Vincent Roberts was arrested on the Isle of Wight by local Police in August and transported to Southampton, where he was handed over to States of Jersey Police officers before being transported back to the Channel Islands.
Appearing at the Magistrates Court in Jersey, it was deemed the case was too serious to be dealt with by Magistrates so was sent up to the Royal Court, where Roberts will appear on 28th October.
He has been given bail until that time.
