A 66-year-old man from Shanklin is to appear in court after being found in possession of an imitation firearm and a knife in Ventnor over the weekend.
Police swooped on Mitchell Avenue in the town on Saturday and arrested a male.
It has now been confirmed that Mark Wise, from Landguard Manor Road in Shanklin, has been charged with possession of a knife and possession of an imitation firearm – namely an air pistol.
Wise has been remanded in custody and will appear at the Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court this morning (Monday).
UPDATE – Wise has also been charged with breaching bail conditions, assault by beating and intentional strangulation.
Wise has been remanded in custody to appear before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on 19th August, with a Crown Court also set for 24th August.
